Biography of Richard B. Martin, M.D.
Born in 1965 at St. Thomas Midtown (Baptist Hospital) as the fourth of four children.
Graduated Salutatorian of John Overton High School in 1983.
Majored in Chemistry at Vanderbilt University.
Earned my B.A. in 1987, graduating summa cum laude
Graduated Vanderbilt Medical School in 1991
Internship and Residency completed at Vanderbilt Affiliated Hospitals
Internal Medicine physician at The Frist Clinic, Inc. from 1994 until 2015
-served as Secretary of Executive Committee for five years
-served on several hospital committees at Centennial Medical Center and Baptist Hospital
-enjoyed training medical students, nurses, and residents from Vanderbilt Medical School, Vanderbilt Nursing School, Meharry Medical School, and TSU Nursing School
Established the first concierge medical practice at HCA in 2015
Joined MDVIP and St. Thomas Medical Group in April 2022
Married for 29 years with four children, Will 25, Adam 23, Alex 22, and Claire 21
Hobbies include offshore fishing, duck hunting, and cruising

Enter the campus from WEST END AVE and proceed past the Emergency Room, Admitting and the Heart Institute Parking. Enter the garage on the right, which reads “Parking for Doctor’s Appointments.” This garage is located under the Medical Plaza Building.
